Annual Fund for the Parish School

His Holiness John Paul II

Please support the Parish School Annual Fund

The Parish School of John Paul II serves multiple cultures and income levels, and commits to excellence in curriculum.  As a matter of parish policy, the school is accessible to all regardless of ability to pay.  The parish and school are partners in ensuring that all Catholic families who seek a Catholic education for their child[ren] are welcomed at the Parish School of John Paul II.

John Paul II School benefits from its excellence.  It has earned the trust of generous benefactors who understand that the school is a good steward of their generosity, but who also understand that the work of urban Catholic education never ends and that their continued generosity is key to the school's success.  Because of its excellence and accessibility, John Paul II School has been identified as a model by many.  Indeed, in a 2007 visit by a leading university, John Paul II was identified as "the pinnacle of urban Catholic education."

For most of their 170-year history in
America, Catholic schools were indeed open to all, regardless of ability to pay. Catholic schools slipped from this commitment over the past generation, but we boldly return to it now.

Your annual fund gift

At Catholic and private schools, tuition covers just a portion of the total per-pupil cost. At John Paul II, the average per pupil cost is $4,654, of which tuition revenue pays just $2,207, leaving a per child deficit of $2,447, which must be raised through the Annual Fund and other fundraising.

At John Paul II, the entire per-pupil cost actually funds education of the child. By contrast, public school per-pupil expenditure in California is approximately $11,000, with just a fraction of the amount funding classroom instruction.
